In-Person Community Forum RE: Trees

The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services, on behalf of the South Boston community, is hosting a forum for neighbors to share thoughts regarding urban canopy and green space along the First Street Corridor. This meeting is important to understand key perspectives and the community fabric in this space, and to inform initiatives taking shape along this corridor. This meeting will take place rain or shine.

Thank you to all who came out on February 26 for a terrific, in-person, outdoor forum on First Street, where we learned more about deficits in urban canopy and green space in South Boston, with a focus on north of Broadway, and we heard key perspectives on initiatives and efforts aimed toward a greener future.

Thank you to Office of Neighborhood Services’ Lydia Polaski and Brianna Millor, Chief of Community Engagement, for organizing. Thank you to City Councilor Ed Flynn, City Councilor Erin Murphy and representatives from the office of Rep. David Biele for joining and speaking.

Thank you to all who shared information and expertise, especially Todd Mistor, Director of Urban Forestry, Boston Parks and Recreation, David Meshoulam from Speak for the Trees, Mike Manning from Friends of Boston Harborwalk, Ginger Deshaney from Southie Trees/South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation, and Mark McGonagle from the Boston Planning and Development Agency. We all learned so much and enjoyed meeting many new friends and neighbors!
